Yahoo!! I passed the $1500 mark and over half way towards my goal of raising $3000 for breast cancer research and awareness! There is no way this would be possible without the generosity of my wonderful family and friends. This has been an amazing experience and the walk itself is still 21 weeks away.
Thank you so much everyone!!

My DIY Bathroom
A couple of weeks ago, while Roger was out of town for a week, I decided it was time to redo our master bathroom. It was a lot of hard work but I did it all by myself!! It took every spare minute I had including the extra 14 hour gift I got when Roger missed his connection in Salt Lake City and had to spend the night.

$1125 raised so far!!
I am amazed every day at how generous people can be!! I have raised $1125 so far for the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Only $1875 to go before I reach my goal of raising $3000.
While fundraising has been going well, I've slacked off my training a little. Roger was out of town last week for business and fun so I decided to remodel our master bathroom. That counts for cross-training, right? I had hoped to pick it up a little this week while at the Oregon Coast but it's rained off and on so I haven't walked as much as I had hoped. Back to reality next week. Oh well!!

My Amazing Aunt Mary
As you probably know by now, I am participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Seattle in September which raises awareness and support for breast cancer research through the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust. What you probably didn't know is that I am dedicating my walk to a survivor who is very special to me, only she isn't a survivor of breast cancer. I am walking in honor of my Aunt Mary who is a survivor of ovarian cancer.
My Aunt Mary is the most amazing woman. While in her mid-60s and fighting ovarian cancer, she never lost her spirit or passion for life. She plays tennis daily and is in far better shape than most 25 year-olds! Instead of giving up or giving in, Aunt Mary chose to fight back and conquer. She is truly an inspiration!!!
For more information about ovarian cancer, visit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's website at http://www.ovarian.org/default.aspx. Please consider signing their petition for an Ovarian Cancer Awareness Postage Stamp - http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ovcastamp?e - to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer. It's free and takes less than a minute to lend your support to such an important cause!!

Go blog hopping!
I am participating in my very first blog hop and it just happens to be a world record blog hop!! On Saturday, March 28, Unity Stamp Company will be hosting a world record-sized blog hop of scrapbookers' and card makers' inspirational designs. Since I don't get too many opportunities to create any more (why is that????), I thought this was the excuse I needed.
Be sure to come back and visit on Blog Hop Saturday to see my amazing creation!! Ha! Ha!! Visit the link to the right to join in the fun.

30 weeks to go!
I finished my first week of official training yesterday! By official, I mean following the training schedule published by the 3-Day folks. It's amazing how much easier the walking gets as the week goes on. I guess that is what happens when you exercise!
I am also beginning to get some of my fundraising ideas going. I am making some bracelets with a breast cancer awareness theme. I will post pictures of these as soon as I have them completed. If there is anything in particular that you are looking for, please let me know and I'll be happy to create something unique just for you.
My team is also collecting used printer cartridges for recycling. There is a company online called Funding Factory which will pay for each cartridge recycled. Please let me know if you are local and would like me to pick up your used cartridges. If you are a business and would like to send your cartridges directly to Funding Factory, call 1.888.883.8237 to register. By giving them our ID# 142411, they will give our team the credit. Visit their website for more information - http://www.fundingfactory.com/admin/participant/supporters/. What an easy way to raise money and go green at the same time!!
Thanks so much for all your support!! It is definitely easier to get motivated with so many people cheering you on!

Nice weather, finally!
Yesterday was a beautiful day here in the Tri-Cities and I was finally able to take my first outdoor walk as part of my 3-Day training. Roger, the girls, and both dogs joined me on the walk through Zintel Canyon (or Sherwood Forest as the girls call it) near our house. It was so nice to be outside rather than in the gym! Of course, it snowed today so it's back to the gym for me!

First Post
This is the very first post of my new personal blog!! I created this blog primarily to share my training and fundraising experiences as I prepare to walk 60 miles in 3 days to help find a cure for breast cancer. In September, I will be participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk in Seattle. Click on the Donate button on the image to the right to visit my personal fundraising page for more information or to donate.
I have official begun training for the walk and have even raised $375 so far. I only have $2625 more to go to reach my goal. I will be doing a variety of things in the next few months to raise money. I am in the process of creating a series of breast cancer awareness bracelets which I will have for sale in the next few weeks. I will post pictures of each piece here as it is made so keep checking back to see which one-of-kind bracelet you have to have!
Thank you for your support and prayers!! I definitley need it!
